Turkish defense company System Defence has produced the world's lightest open system dual-feed machine gun.
Called the MFR56, this rifle weighs 4.25 kg and is classified as an ultra-light machine gun. The MFR56 has successfully passed rigorous qualification tests such as mud tests, drop tests and cold weather tests, and currently has 9 different patent applications pending approval.
MFR56, which is the original design of System Defense, can be produced in 2 different systems as Open Bolt and Closed Bolt due to the preferences of country-based law enforcement agencies. The MFR56 top feed system, which is designed as a double feed system, has 4 different patents belonging to System Defense.
MFR56 is designed especially for local operations. The MFR56, which exceeds its counterparts with its dimensions and weight, provides advantages in areas and settlements that restrict the movement and maneuverability of security units.
